Known for her bold, yet twisted artworks, Courtney MC’s visual aesthetic has been described by her musical collaborator, Octavian, as “the sinful side of fun”.
Her first independent venture into the contemporary art world has been met with great international interest. MC, most recently, exhibited her first works in collaboration with Octavian under the show title, ‘ENDORPHINS RESIDENCY’ during Paris Fashion Week, and featured live performances by Octavian himself as well as Skepta and ABRA, and was live broadcast by Boilerroom. It was a powerful showcase of the importance of the collaboration between art, fashion and music... and was so difficult to get in that it was shut down by the police! HIGHSNOBIETY called her a “Wonder Woman”, having managed to create such a unique visual identity for an international musician.
MC’s works draw inspiration from her personal battles with life and her demons. She personifies these issues in the form of strong and dynamic female characters interacting with various forms of perceived evil. But the resounding visual message is one of colour and an joyful provocation... a world somewhere between light and dark, where both shades are happily embraced.
After graduating the Royal College of Art in 2010, MC spent the first 10 years of her career in the luxury fashion industry working at Givenchy under Riccardo Tisci and Clare Waight Keller respectively, with her current title as Design Director for Print. Her print design, under the charge of these great Artistic Directors, is recognised worldwide.
